KAIPTC/TfP Recent Activities

The contingent made up of Ghanaian and Nigerian police officers underwent rigorous training exercises to prepare them for deployment to peace support operations in Darfur.
The training exercise which coincided with the annual meeting of the International Advisory Board (IAB) of the TfP at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra last November saw Board Members and participants witness at first hand the field training exercises for the UNAMID pre-deployment course.

The team of facilitators drawn form Ghana, Norway and Germany took the SAT-cleared police officers on the programme through practical and hands-on training to prepare them adequately and effectively for their role in peacekeeping.

The police officers who qualify to be on this programme are expected to have passed a driving test. This pre-deployment course seeks to prepare the participants for the robust peacekeeping experience in mission areas while also giving them training to perform optimally even as they await clearance from the mission area for onward deployment.

Currently the training department of the KAIPTC is in constant interaction with the participants to monitor their progress.
