Norway-funded workshop on Protection of Civilians in Addis Ababa

Training for Peace in Africa (TfP) is an international capacity building programme aiming at improved and self-sustaining African civilian and police capacity for peace support operations, and with a view to strengthening the African security architecture.

 

The programme’s focus is on training, policy advice and research, with a major part of activities being carried out by African partners.

 

 

Norway-funded workshop on Protection of Civilians in Addis Ababa

How to build strategies for protection of civilians as part of peacekeeping operations? On 31 May to 1 June a workshop aimed at developing a common framework for mission-wide protection of civilians strategies was organised in Addis Ababa. The workshop was co-hosted by the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs and funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The programme has the following partner institutions: ACCORD, ISS, KAIPTC and NUPI.
The programme is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Support is also provided to Eastern Africa Standby Brigade Coordination Mechanism (EASBRICOM) and African Civilian Standby Roster for Humanitarian and Peace Building Missions (AFDEM), and the Norwegian National Police Directorate supports the training activities.
