Protection of Civilians
Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre gave a speech on protection of civilians at the Annual Training for Peace Seminar in Oslo 6 October 2009.
- Over the past 15 years Training for Peace has trained thousands of African police and civilian experts for peace operations in Africa, and this capacity building effort is being strengthened as we speak, across the African continent. A key achievement of the programme has been to place the civilian dimensions of peace operations on the agenda in places still dominated by military thinking, in Africa and globally, the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said in his speech.
