TfP Meeting with Kofi Annan
Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was a keynote speaker at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs’ (NUPI) 50 Years Anniversary Conference and was briefed on the Training for Peace in Africa programme (TfP) by the senior Norwegian diplomats and members of the research team at NUPI involved in TfP.
The important issue of building a sustainable African peacekeeping capacity was discussed with a special focus on the importance of the civilian and police dimensions of multidimensional peacekeeping operations. Kofi Annan was also involved in the establishemt of the peacekeeping training institution Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana which today is a partner of the TfP programme.
