ISS
From its offices in Pretoria and Nairobi, the ISS provides support to needs-driven peacekeeping training for the Eastern African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO), the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) and their respective Regional Bureaus of the INTERPOL.
Certified trainers from its training-of-the-trainer (ToT) courses, help to meet demands for deployment to UN and AU peace operations, and contribute to building the pool of trainers and trained personnel for the African Standby Force (ASF) arrangements within the Eastern African Standby Force Coordination Mechanism (EASFCOM) and the SADC Standby Force (SSF) regions.
Particularly in the SARPCCO region, the ISS also contributes to HIV and AIDS, gender awareness and policing violence against women and children through capacity-building training. Furthermore, the ISS assists in the development of gender policies and courses, especially in support of EAPCCO.
Training instructions from ISS also frequently assist and provide training as well as capacity building activities at partner institutions on the African continent.
