KAIPTC

In keeping with its commitment to help build African police and civilian peacekeeping and peacebuilding capacities, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) conducts pre-deployment training for UNAMID police personnel and a training course in conflict prevention for civilian experts.

The UNAMID Police Pre-deployment Course aims at enhancing the capacities of participants by equipping them with basic and specialized skills at both operational and service delivery levels. Among other things, participants are introduced to the roles, responsibilities and operating procedures of UNPOLS serving in integrated peace support operations in Darfur. Participants for the course are mainly drawn from the West African Sub-region.

The Conflict Prevention Course is designed to help improve civilian peace support capacities in operational and structural conflict prevention. It also seeks to contribute to the operationalization and sustainability of the civilian dimension of the ECOWAS Standby Force. As such, the course focuses on critical themes around conflict, peace, security, multi-dimensional peace support operation, human rights, gender and development. The main target groups for the course are civilian staff of ECOWAS and civilian experts from the ECOWAS sub-region.
